About MeAs of this August, I am an alumni of Florida State University. I majored in English with a concentration in Editing, Writing, and Media with a Communications minor. This major is unique to Florida State and different than just the typical Journalism degree. Within this major I not only explored my passion for writing, but also learned about the technological side of publishing that has become so prevalent in the 21st century including digital technology, visual culture, and the internet. During college, I put these skills to use while I wrote for two on-campus publications: Her Campus FSU and Spoon University FSU. Now, I currently have two internships; I am an editor at Study Breaks Magazine and a writer for Eat+Moove. Under the Portfolio tab you will find articles that I have written for each of these publications and a link to my editing portfolio. I explain a bit about each of my experiences with the websites below. Also, if you click on the titles below, they will bring you to my author page on each of the sites.

Her Campus FSU |
I wrote for Her Campus FSU for three semesters. Her Campus is the #1 site for college women. Florida State is one of the 290+ college chapters that contribute to the content on Her Campus's website. In the tab labeled Portfolio, I have links to articles that I have written. The Her Campus samples include an article I wrote on a local boutique that reached out to me to do an article on their newly opened shop. Another piece is an interview I conducted with the production designer behind television sets such as The Voice, Top Chef, and more. Through Her Campus I have implemented the following skills: keeping my contributed content current and timely, conducting interviews that ask relevant and compelling questions and working with a deadline and editor.

Spoon University FSU |
I am proud to say that I am one of the founding members of the Florida State chapter of Spoon University. Our chapter became live in the Fall semester of 2015. Spoon University is the everyday food source for this generation. There are over 3,000 individual contributors at 100+ college campuses. Writing for Spoon University has given me an extensive knowledge of Word Press, in that I use it each week to format and publish my articles. Within Word Press I work with SEOs to ensure that my article will be as successful as possible. Spoon has also given me the experience of working with photographers and going to shoot with them in order to obtain the best original photos that we can. So far, our chapter has grown rapidly and I am very proud of all of our members. Three of my articles have exceeded 30,000 page views: 11 of the Most Outrageous Gold Foiled Food and What Happens After You Eat Them (37,170 views) and B*tches (and Bros) Who Brunch: 13 of the Best Brunch Spots in Tallahassee (31,545 views). On the week of November 2, 2015, I was named to the national Top of Spoon list for being one of the top three contributors on the nationwide Spoon network.

Study Breaks |
This summer I had the opportunity to work as an editor for the online branch of Study Breaks Magazine. I was in charge of sixteen writers and edited each of their articles every week, then communicated my track changes to them and formatted the final pieces in WordPress. If you're interested in checking out some of my edits, including documents with track changes, visit my Editing Portfolio here. My portfolio also includes a letter from the Study Breaks' Editorial Director, describing what it was like having me on his team.

Eat+Moove |
Another internship I had this summer was with the vegan food blog Eat+Moove. Every week I pitched five article ideas and then wrote two of them and formatted them in WordPress. I had such a great time writing for this site, not only did I get to explore the world of veganism more, but I also made a friend in the site's creator, Tehrene Firman. I plan on continuing to write for this site for as long as I am able to.
